Niles Gets A Facelift
Exciting things are happening at Niles Home. I am so pleased to announce that we have begun extensive remodeling on our buildings including:
- A new roof on the Dorm and Administration Building.
- Extensive upkeep and maintenance on the HVAC systems.
- New Tile throughout the Dorm and Administration Building.
- Refreshed doors and paint throughout the dorms.
- New bedroom furniture for the dorms.
The most important aspect of all of this work is a pleasant and "home-like" environment for our youth. Niles' facility and furniture sometimes take the brunt of a youth's anger and frustration. This is understandable, but does take a toll.
We are very grateful for the support from several funders including, CDBG (Community Development Block Grant), Sunderland Foundation, Goppert Foundation, BCD Travel, J.E. Dunn Foundation and the Helen S. Boylan Foundation.
Of course, the building and it's facelift are important, but what is really exciting is how lives are changed and futures brightened for the children who call Niles "home." I am thrilled when I see the transformation in youth who come here, angry, frustrated and scared who slowly grow into bright, hopeful and trusting young persons who walk with confidence.
We love to see youth like young Joshua who came to Niles anxious and sad. Today, he came bursting in the door, hopping from one foot to the other, trailing his coat, and asking us to call Mr. Edgar, "right now, please." He has exciting news to share with his favorite residential staff, a paper from school with a great big "A!"
I hope that you will come visit Niles and see all that is happening here. Let us show you how you can help transform lives as clearly as paint can transform a room.
